Innovator Visa

Whether you are a start-up entrepreneur or experienced business person seeking to establish business in the UK and connect your visa to it, this immigration route might be right for you.

The successful applicant shall have an innovative, viable and scalable business idea, supported by a business plan, which has been approved by an endorsing body. Therefore, this visa requires first, to prepare the business plan and get an endorsement, second, apply for a visa.

The application must be accompanied by an endorsement letter from either an endorsing body or a Legacy endorsing body, which should include the following details:

  • The name of the endorsing body or Legacy endorsing body
  • Their endorsement reference number
  • The date of issue, which must be within three months prior to the application date
  • The applicant’s full name, date of birth, nationality, and passport number
  • The name and contact details (telephone number, email, and workplace address) of a representative from the endorsing body or Legacy endorsing body who can verify the letter’s contents to the Home Office if required

The endorsement letter must confirm that:

  • The applicant is deemed a fit and proper person for endorsement under the Innovator Founder route’s rules and guidance
  • The endorsing body has no concerns regarding the legitimacy of the applicant’s funding sources or the method of fund transfers into their endorsed business
  • There is no indication that the applicant or their endorsed business may be benefiting from illicit or inadequately explained wealth

Other requirements: 

  • Your endorsement letter was issued not more than 3 months before the date of your Innovator visa application;
  • You are competent in the English language to at least CEFR Level B2;
  • If you are outside the UK or have been in the UK for less than 12 months, you have at least £1270 to support yourself, plus £285 for a dependent partner, £315 for a first child and £200 for each additional child;
  • Your application does not fall for refusal on general grounds for refusal;
  • You have provided a TB test certificate, if required.

Costs involved in the Innovator Founder Visa

Home Office fee:

  • £1,191 per person if you apply outside the UK.
  • £1,486 per person if you apply to extend or switch your visa in the UK.

Immigration Health Surcharge in the amount of £1,035 per year of visa, payable in advance at the point of submission of the application.
